Of the 100 books I recommend in Movies, Marijuana, and Mind (see Appendix E), the following are among the dozen or so more technical books that have most significantly influenced and supported my thinking and work. As is apparent by their titles, the main subjects of these books deal with the "new science" of the 20th Century; which is to say (besides the work of Kuhn, which deals with the process of change in scientific thinking in general), these books--as outgrowths of Einstein's ideas, quantum findings, and (in Grof's case) even explorations with altered states of consciousness--address worldviews beyond the conventional mechanistic paradigm of science. Any of these pioneering works would make great book club material for the more technically inclined.
